How to ApplyMost of our graduate students are admitted in Fall semesters. However, we also admit small numbers of students in Spring semesters. Make sure that you apply by the application deadlines. Starting October 2006 (for Fall 2007 admissions and thereafter), we will be ONLY accepting Online Applications. This means that neither the Computer Science Department nor the Graduate School will accept applications that were submitted as a hard copy. Your application must include the general application forms required by the Graduate School as well as the forms that are specific for Computer Science applicants.
Please note that GRE score reports must be sent by ETS to Stony Brook University electronically. Our code for score reporting is 2548. Fill out your application using the Graduate School online application form, and send us only the two Computer Science specific forms along with your transcripts to: Graduate Admission - Program
Program in the above address should be one of the following: Ph.D., M.S., BS/MS. Please do not staple any application materials. Address for inquiries: graduate AT cs.stonybrook.edu. Deferral of admission policySometimes students who are admitted into our graduate program cannot attend due to a variety of reasons and request to defer their admission to the following semester. Unfortunately, we cannot acommodate these requests. Admission without financial support is deferred only in very extraordinary circumstances, and admission with financial support is almost never deferred. We cannot defer admission even if the circumstances of the request are beyond student's control, such as denial of an entry visa. In this case, the applicant should reapply for admission in a following semester. It helps to indicate the history of your application in the personal statement, but admission is not guaranteed. |
