Laptop Internet Access
Q. How do I configure my laptop for internet access within the
department?
Room 1203 is designated for graduate laptop access. There are 8 wired
ethernet ports, in addition to wireless access throughout the room. Use
the following network settings:
Configure your laptop to receive IP address automatically i.e. to use DHCP.
Specifically, configure it to
- Obtain an IP address automatically
- Obtain DNS server address automatically
If you laptop is powered up from "standby" or "hibernate" mode, you might have to reboot your machine to renew the ip address. Alternately, you can issue the command "ipconfig renew" on the command prompt to force an IP address renewal.
