Accessing Newsgroups Using Outlook Express
Q. How to access the newsgroup using Outlook Express?
Let's say we want to access the newsgroup for course cse000.
Start Oulook Express
1. Go to Tools/Accounts
2. Click Add/News
3. Enter your "Name" and click "Next"
4. Enter your "email address" and click "Next"
5. Enter "news.sunysb.edu" as the News Server and click Next
6. Click Finish
7. Click Close
8. Click "Yes" when it prompts you to download newsgroups
9. Under the box which says "Search newsgroups which contain:",
enter the text "cse000"
10. Double click on "sbcs.cse000" and click "Ok"
You should now be able to see the messages by clicking on
sbcs.cse000 on the left pane.
Please use similar settings in other newsgroup readers. Also, the newsgroup
server is accessible only within the university network.
