Report Problems

Q. How can I report requests or problems?

System requests/problems are reported using WREQ

Other requests/problems are reported using SECWREQ

If you cannot access any of the above websites (or you prefer to send email) then you can send email to either wreq or secwreq respectively. Please note that the maximum message size for WREQ or SECWREQ is 10KB and that the WREQ / SECWREQ system cannot handle MIME attachments. Additionally, only valid department e-mail addresses will be accepted.

The WREQ system should only be used to report problems with the main department computing systems (your host, file systems, printers, network connectivity). It should not be used to report building related issues (no heat/light/ventilation/bathroom malfunctions). Students should email kathy directly. Faculty can report non-systems issues to the SECWREQ system.

SECWREQ can be used for requests such as requisitions, course room changes, office supplies, grade changes, room reservations, payroll issues, tuition issues, reimbursements and building management needs.

The first time you access WREQ (or SECWREQ) system through the website you will be required to login. To login you should select the "Login" item from the top frame. This will bring up the login form in the bottom frame. At a miniumum you will need to enter a valid department email address and a password. If you previously sent email to the WREQ (or SECWREQ) system using the email address provided then an initial password has been generated and emailed to you. You must enter this password in order to continue. If this is your first interaction with WREQ (or SECWREQ) then enter a new password, this should not be a password that you use to logon to the department systems.

You must have cookies enabled in your browser in order to use WREQ (or SEQWREQ). WREQ (and SECWREQ) uses a cookie to identify the user after a successful login. You will not need to login again as long as the cookie is present in your browser.

If you wish to change your password you must go to the Login form and enter your email address, current password, and the new password. WREQ (and SECWREQ) will confirm the successful login, but there will be no confirmation for changing the password.

Be prepared to describe in detail the problem you face, the type of OS involved, the general area (eg. software, hardware or www), and your sense of urgency. There are a set of selectable priorities with associated "issues". Choose the closest suitable priority or issue. The priority may be adjusted to better fit the problem report you submit. Emailing a wreq request is provided as a convenience. The user should be aware this method lacks the flexibility of the web interface. If you submit an email wreq request you may suggest a priority in the body of the text. It is suggested you look over the wreq online tutorial.
