| Major Topics Covered in Course |
In CSE 495/496 students work on a significant research project, supervised by a computer science faculty member. Students must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher, both overall and in computer science courses, in order to be eligible for CSE 495/496. The course sequence is taken by students in their senior year. |
| Laboratory Projects |
Project proposals must be approved by the honors program director and the faculty supervisor before a student is given permission to register for CSE 495 in the fall semester. Research projects often require implementation work, but can also be theoretical in nature. Students must make satisfactory progress on the project in the fall semester before being permitted to register for CSE 496 in the spring semester. At the end of the spring semester student submit a written project report and make a presentation at the Honors Project Colloquium. Grades are assigned by the student's honors committee, three or four faculty members including the student's faculty supervisor and the honors program director. |
