The course presents the relationship between information technology and the systems that use the technology. The emphasis is on business systems with a high information technology components (e.g. software development, communications, financial management, etc.).
Prerequisite

U2 standing
Course Goals
  • Understand how technology and information systems are used to achieve results for companies using those systems,
  • Be able to discuss the benefits offered by information systems and the risks and problems associated with those systems,
  • Be able to explore the arguments on all sides of a business issue, and argue convincingly for the position you select, and
  • Understand the components of information systems
Textbook Management Information Systems: Managing the Digital Firm by Laudon & Laudon, Eleventh Edition, Pearson Prentice-Hall.
Major Topics Covered in Course Topics include infrastructure management, information management, security, and communications. Emphasis is given to case studies relating to information management. Emphasis is given to case studies relating to information management.
