David R. Smith, Professor Emeritus

BIO
David Smith came to Stony Brook in 1966 and (with D. Tycko) established the computer science department in 1970. While at Stony Brook he published in the areas of combinational switching functions, shift register sequences, experimental parallel computer & chip architectures, hardware description languages, and hardware synthesis.
He is the author of the text:
"Verilog styles for Synthesis of Digital Systems",
(Prentice-Hall 2000).
Now retired, he spends part of his time painting (1st place, oils, juried art show, 2005, "Long Island Continent", L..I. Museum, Stony Brook, Aug 22 - Sept 11, 2005. 1st place oils, juried art show, Brookhaven Arts Council, Gallery on the Hill, Farmingville, Sept -Oct 2008.
