An Efficient Medical Workstation for the Clinical Review of Medical Image
Data (PACS systems)
Today's health care produces vast amounts of patient image data that need
to be clinically analyzed on a daily basis. Technology must be provided
that facilitates the management and analysis of this datastream in the
most efficient and accurate way. The benefits are clear: better utilization
of hospital equipment, better utilization of health care personnel, and
most importantly, better and more effective service to the patient. A few
years back, I was part of a design team that produced a prototype of such
a medical workstation.
The paper "A medical workstation
for the display and analysis of multi-frame digital cineradiographic data,"
(Computers in Medicine and Biology, vol.26, no. 5, pp. 385-400, 1996) has
more info on this effort.
