The Computer Science (CS) Department, in conjunction with the Center of Excellence in Wireless and Information Technology (CEWIT) at Stony Brook University seek several Postdoctoral Research Associates or Research Associates to conduct research in one or more of the following areas: Visualization, Virtual/Augmented Reality, User Interfaces, Medical Imaging and other relevant topics. Candidates will work on research, development and commercialization projects potentially with sponsors and partners of CS and CEWIT or new start-ups. Examples of R&D projects will involve the Reality Deck (www.realitydeck.org). Applicants should hold a PhD in Computer Science or a closely related discipline and must demonstrate superior research potential. Experience writing proposals, publishing papers and conducting user studies are desired. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.

The Department (www.cs.stonybrook.edu) currently has 47 faculty members and several postdocs and is expected to recruit additional members and postdocs in the next several years. There are five main research areas in the Department: computer systems, visual computing, intelligent systems, concurrency and verification and algorithms. The Department is in a stage of significant expansion, including a new CS building, a recent Center of Excellence in Wireless and Information Technology (CEWIT) building, a recent Center of Excellence in Advanced Energy (AERTC), along with new graduate programs at SUNY Korea. CEWIT (www.cewit.org) is an applied R"D center in IT and wireless, housed in a 100,000 square ft state-of-the art facility.
