Quality Scoring Propels the Department of Computer Science Rankings Upward


The Department of Computer Science’s (CS) graduate program ranks among the top tier institutions in the United States according to a recent study., an independent website not affiliated with the National Research Council (NRC), created the study by incorporating data from the NRC assessment into its Graduate School Guide.  Graduate School Guide users are able to assign weights to the program characteristics measured by the NRC, National Science Foundation, and the National Center for Education Statistics, and rank graduate programs according to their own priorities. 

Going Places: Women Students Secure Funding for Scholarly Exploration and Mentoring


Five women students from the Department of Computer Science (CS) will travel across the country to participate in mentoring and learning opportunities thanks to several funding awards.

The first group of women CS students will travel to the 2014 CRA-Women Graduate Cohort Workshop taking place April 11-12, 2014 in Santa Clara, California. The workshop is the cornerstone of CRA-W’s efforts to increase the ranks of senior women in computing by building and mentoring nationwide communities and they received over 500 applications for the award.
