Event Description

Join us as we welcome Stony Brook alum, Senior Vice President and Dell IT’s Chief Technology Officer, Dr. Narayanan (“KK”) Krishnakumar. Krishnakumar leads Dell IT’s Architecture, Transformation and Quality organization, which is responsible for driving enterprise architecture, digital transformation and strategy, and quality engineering and assurance.

Abstract:
It is critical to be POWERFUL in your life skills, as you journey through life. Alumnus KK Krishnakumar will talk through his experiences and lessons learned after graduating from Stony Brook in 1992. He will provide suggestions about how to structure your thought processes and values while achieving one’s goals.

KK will discuss Dell’s “Mt. Everest” project: scaling a large data center while improving performance and moving toward real-time reporting. This transformative project allowed for storage of 50TB of data vs 5TB and began in 2007. KK will detail the team’s challenges, successful leadership tactics, and project “game changers.”

Krishnakumar is veteran technology leader with more than 25 years of experience in executive management and hands-on technical leadership, with expertise in all aspects of technology including cloud, big data, social and mobility. Krishnakumar holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the State University of New York at Stony Brook, an MBA from Babson College and a B.Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology in Chennai, India. He has also taught computer networks and operating system scourses at Brandeis University.

CSE 600 Students will receive credit for attending this talk.
