Congrats Ken Gladky on your SUNY Chancellor's Award!

 

The CS department's own Kenneth (Ken) Gladky has received a SUNY Chancellors Award for Excellence in Professional Service! 

This week SUNY Chancellor, Nancy L. Zimpher, announced the recipients of the 2016-2017 SUNY Chancellor's Award for Excellence. Overall, eighteen awards in five categories were bestowed upon faculty and staff at Stony Brook University and in the category of Professional Service, Ken Gladky was appropriately recognized. 

According to the Stony Brook University award press release, the Chancellor's Awards are given to individuals who are at the "top of their game" and who are being recognized for their superior professional achievements in the pursuit of excellence. 

Ken is the Director of Operations for the Department of Computer Science (CS) and as a valued member of the department he consistently demonstrates his technical skills and knowledge on a number of daily challenges. Essential to the administrative and research operations of the department, Ken also has a joint role as the Director of the Center for Visual Computing. Ken was instrumental in the construction of the New Computer Science building which opened in 2015 and required that he coordinate with multiple vendors, construction and architectural companies, and SUNY agencies. Additionally, Ken designed all of the department systems in the new building including network wiring, wireless network infrastructure, and A/V. 

Upon hearing of the award, Ari Kaufman, chair of the department congratulated Ken and said, "As the CS department grows and is consistently recognized as a highly ranked computer science department nationally, Ken will continue to be instrumental in collaborative and innovative efforts between faculty, students, staff, and affiliated departments and centers."
