LaunchPad Recognizes Yevgen Borodin with a Launch Your Stars Award

 

Stony Brook, NY- January, 2014

The accomplishments and success of Research Assistant Professor and PhD Alum, Dr. Yevgen Borodin, were recognized by LaunchPad and Long Island Software & Technology Network (LISTnet) with a Launch Your Stars award.

The Launch Your Stars award is presented to outstanding individuals under the age of 35 years old who are achieving extraordinary success. Dr. Borodin qualified for the award as a top innovator who successfully implements new ideas and who embodies the entrepreneurial spirit throughout his research endeavors. Borodin’s flagship product is Capti Narrator which was created through his company Charmtech Labs. Capti (www.captivoice.com) Narrator enables hands-free consumption of digital content via audio.

Nominated for this award by Computer Science professor Dr. I.V. Ramakrishnan, Dr. Borodin is well known for his research in human-computer interaction and assistive technology. He is the recipient of almost $4 M dollars in federal research grants and he has co-authored over 40 publications on web accessibility.

After earning his BTech degrees from Alfred State College of Technology, Borodin earned his M.S. and PhD in Computer Science from Stony Brook University. He defended his PhD dissertation, Bridging the Web Accessibility Divide, at Stony Brook University, receiving the President’s Award for Distinguished Doctoral Students in 2010. He was also the first place winner of the 2007 ACM International Graduate Student Research Competition.
