Held on March 22 and hosted by Stony Brook Computing Society, Geek Games was a great way for students from all majors to connect.
In between snacks and socializing, about 70 students participated in three rounds of competitive games. The first round involved game design. Team members were given a prompt and they could use their creativity and make whatever game they wanted.
During the second round which was called “structure building,” students used spaghetti and marshmallows to build a structure.
The third round was a LINUX related round where everyone had to answer the same 10 questions within an hour.
Each round resulted in 1-3 winners and one overall winner. Winners earned tech prizes and the overall winner got the “meta quest” prize and a one on one with a MAANG (Meta, Amazon, Apple, Netflix, Google) staff member.
Thank you to SBCS for arranging such a great event and to all of the campus departments who made it possible including USG.
