A Message from the Chair
It is my pleasure to welcome you to the Department of Computer Science at Stony Brook University. We are a dedicated team of faculty, staff, and students committed to excellence and success. Whether you are an incoming student, a new faculty member, or a collaborator, you will join a passionate and talented group of computer scientists working together to achieve great things.
We lead a dozen world-class centers and institutes, guided by renowned faculty, many of whom are ACM, IEEE, and Sloan Fellows, as well as NSF CAREER and industry awardees (IBM, Google, Microsoft).
We take pride in our ongoing efforts to create a welcoming environment for all students. Our Departmental Plan for Broadening Participation in Computing (BPC), is available for review, as is our strategic plan for diversity and outreach. Verified by BPCnet, this plan serves as a guide for the activities proposed by our faculty and researchers in their project BPC plans for grant proposals, ensuring that diversity remains a priority in all our academic and research endeavors.
