Managing Director and Global Co-Head of Citi Credit and Securitized Markets

Carey Lathrop is a Managing Director and the Global Co-Head of Citi Credit and Securitized Markets. Carey is responsible for the management of Credit Sales and Trading (including Short Term, Investment Grade, High Yield, Loans, Distressed, Structured, and Emerging MarketsCredit) in addition to the Credit Sector Specialists and the Credit Opportunities Group. He is also responsible for Securitized Markets Sales and Trading, including Mortgage Sales and Trading, Consumer Finance, ABS & CRE CDO, and Commercial Real Estate groups.

Prior to his appointment as Co-Head of Citi Credit and Securitized Markets in May 2017, Carey was Head of Global Credit Markets since August 2008. Carey held several leadership positions within Fixed Income, including Global Head of Credit Trading, Global Head of Investment Grade and High Yield Trading, Global Head of Emerging Markets Credit Trading, and Head of the US Investment Grade Syndicate Desk.

Carey is a member of the US Treasury Borrowing Advisory Committee (TBAC) of The Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association (SIFMA), a position he has held since December 2012. His responsibilities include providing market feedback on a regular basis to the Treasury Department on a variety of fundamental and technical debt-related topics.

Carey began his career at Salomon Brothers in 1988 in the Sales and Trading Department, and managed the Short-Term Generalist Sales Group before joining the Investment Grade Syndicate Desk in 1994, a business which he then managed from October 2003 to August 2005.

Carey earned an MBA degree, with a concentration in Finance, from Harvard Business School in 1988, and a BS degree from Stony Brook University in 1984, with a double major in Computer Science and Economics. Prior to business school, he worked for IBM Corporation.
