Aug. 11 - Hayan Lee Dissertation Defense: Algorithms and Applications in Genome Assembly using Long Read Sequencing Technology

Join us at 2p in CS Room 220 on Tuesday, August 11 for Hayan Lee's dissertation defense. Lee will be presenting Algorithms and Applications in Genome Assembly using Long Read Sequencing Technology

Lee's advisor is Michael Schatz, Assistant Research Professor at Stony Brook University and Associate Professor at Simons Center for Quantitative Biology in Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory. Lee's areas of interest include de novo genome assembly of complex genomes, developing algorithms, analyzing and modeling big data using Machine Learning (ML). Before coming to Stony Brook University, Lee earned a M.S. in Information Security Technology and Management from Carnegie Mellon University. Lee was also a Research Intern on the eScience team led by David Heckerman at Microsoft Research.
