Stony Brook University's Department of Computer Science invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position with an expected starting date of Fall 2023. We are interested in candidates with background in all areas of computer systems, broadly defined. We are specifically interested in hearing from candidates with expertise in any aspect of data management and in software engineering. The Assistant Professor will be responsible for teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses and conducting scholarly research.

Applicants should hold a Ph.D. in Computer Science or a closely related discipline, have outstanding scholarly records and stellar potential in their field of study, and demonstrate a sincere commitment to teaching and mentoring. Required Qualifications:

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous experience or background in all areas of computer systems, such as operating systems, programming languages, networking, data management, and software engineering. Research background in data management or software engineering.

Department Description: The Department of Computer Science currently has 56 full-time faculty members and is undergoing a period of rapid growth. The department is housed in a new state-of-the-art 70,000 sq ft building and also occupies parts of other buildings. The department is either home to or has significant partnerships with several interdisciplinary centers on campus with our faculty playing leadership roles. They include the Institute for AI-Driven Discovery and Innovation, National Security Institute (NSI), Center for Visual Computing (CVC), Center of Excellence in Wireless and Information Technology (CEWIT), and Institute of Advanced Computational Science (IACS).
