Postdoctoral Associate

Required Qualifications: 
PhD in Computer Science or a closely related field. Directly related experiences in the areas of languages/compilers, verification, and/or distributed algorithms.

Preferred Qualifications:
Expertise in formal specification languages, verification tools, and their applications in distributed systems.Excellent writing and communication skills. Experience in team management.

Brief Description of Duties: The Postdoctoral Associate will assist the Principal Investigator in the department of Computer Science. The incumbent will conduct research on compilation/optimization and verification for distributed algorithms expressed in DistAlgo and ensure that all experiments are appropriately conducted following the policies and procedures of Stony Brook University. Successful incumbent will have excellent writing and communication skills.

  • Within the predetermined research scope and methodology, conduct research and experiments in the areas of languages/compilers, verification, and distributed algorithms.
  • Collect and analyze distributed algorithms, optimizations, and proofs, including periodical/literature search and utilizing specialized skills in related field to analyze the collected materials.
  • Lead/participate/assist in manuscript writing for publication in scientific journals and presentations. Supervise the DistAlgo research team of grad students. Participate/assist in grant writing.
  • Present DistAlgo and applications to interested colleagues, students and visitors..
  • Lab maintenance, including equipment maintenance and ordering of supplies as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned, which may include which may include representing the DistAlgo team at Scientific Conferences and Meetings.
